I've been an artist since I could pick up a crayon, and I’ve been exploring art ever since! I began tattooing over 20 years ago, and it’s been the most amazing, challenging, and rewarding career I could ever hope for!
I love all sorts of subject matters, but I definitely gravitate towards fantasy, the natural world, and organic forms. Plants & animals, mythical creatures, flowers & insects, as well as pet & human portraits... I love it all! In addition to organic forms, I also enjoy pop-culture references from books, movies & cartoons. I grew up in the 80's & 90's so images from those times are all very familiar. Also, I'm quite a book & movie nerd (from any decade!) so I have a pretty large catalog of inspiration to draw from. For all tattoos, regardless of the image, I feel the most important aspect is the way it flows on the body. I believe any image can make a beautiful tattoo if it’s designed well and placed properly on the body.

Heather has been a tattooer for over 20 years now. She began her journey in Seattle in 2001, and throughout her career, she's worked in studios all over the country. Between 2010-2013, Heather worked here at Crucial Tattoo while her husband was stationed in Ocean City with the Coast Guard. Through the Coast Guard, they lived in many exciting locations, but Crucial Tattoo was never far from her heart. In 2022, when her family moved back to the Eastern Shore, she decided to come back to Crucial Tattoo for good!
Heather's artistic background has lent itself well to her tattoo style. She began working with pencils, watercolors, and oils when she was a child, and her tattoo style definitely reflects the years she spent studying with these mediums. Her artistic style can range anywhere from painterly fantasy to illustrative neo-traditional to realism and portrait style. With each tattoo, she will consult extensively with her clients to decide the best way to approach each design. Ultimately, her highest priority is to see the client’s vision executed in the most beautiful and flattering way possible.
In addition to traditional body art, Heather has recently graduated from Terry Lively's 3-D Areola Reconstruction Class, held by The Tina Davies Collective. Presently, she is taking consultations to perform areola tattoo procedures for breast cancer survivors, and for trans individuals that have undergone top surgery. Being able to perform these procedures has been a career goal for Heather and she’s very excited to be able to add this service to her repertoire.
In the future, Heather would love to focus more on large-scale work and hopes to bring her love of nature, fine art, and organic flow into her designs.
